BECKHAM SET TO FACE FORMER CLUB MANCHESTER UNITED

David Beckham is set to face former club Manchester United on their pre-season tour of the United States after tonight being voted on to the Major League Soccer All-Stars XI.

The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder played for United from 1993 to 2003 before joining Real Madrid and then the American club was named in the side chosen by fans.

36 year-old is joined in the XI by Galaxy team-mate Landon Donovan, former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry and ex-Barcelona defender Rafa Marquez.

Veteran Kasey Keller will start in goal.

United will play the MLS All-Stars at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey on July 27.

HODGSON INTERESTED INJURY PRONE HARGREVES

West Bromwich Albion manager Roy Hodgson is ready to give Owen Hargreaves a chance to revive his career at the Hawthorns.

The 30-year-old was released from Manchester United at the end of last season after playing just 27 games over four years at Old Trafford.

Hargreaves went as far as posting a YouTube video to advertise himself to potential suitors. He has spent long spells on the sidelines with knee injury.

And the unconventional move appeared to have alerted the interest of Hodgson, who is looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.

According to the Sun newspaper, the former Liverpool boss is willing to give the former England international a shot by presenting him a pay-as-you-play deal at the Hawthorns.

Leicester manager Sven Goran Eriksson is also interested, who admitted he is toying with the idea of bringing Hargreaves on board.

If Hargreaves does join West Brom, he would be in line to face Manchester United in the opening day of the Barclays Premier League.
