Tottenham close in on Scott Parker

Tottenham are poised to wrap up the signing of West Ham midfielder Scott Parker.

The 30-year-old did not travel with West Ham squad to Nottingham Forest as the deal, believed to be worth £6million, neared a conclusion.

Hammers manager Sam Allardyce told Sky Sports: "There are some negotiations going on and I don't think he would be mentally right to play.

"It will come to fruition in the next 24 hours or so."

Spurs are expected to include a loan deal for one of their youngsters in the package.

Parker, who joined the Hammers from Newcastle for £7million in 2007, was named Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year last season despite the club finishing bottom of the Premier League.

QPR close to signing SWP

Queens Park Rangers manager Neil Warnock believes he is edging closer to tying up a deal for Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Four clubs have had an offer accepted by Manchester City, with the England international having spoken to all of the interested parties.

He is, however, believed to favour a switch to Loftus Road.

Warnock is certain he will get his man, with QPR working hard to get a transfer pushed through before Wednesday's deadline.

He is convinced that his side hold all the right cards, with the chance to take in a second spell in the capital appealing to former Chelsea man Wright-Phillips.

Warnock said: "We have made an offer and it's been accepted.

"There are four clubs who have agreed and it's really down to the player.

"Joey (Barton) has spoken to him, I think they were room-mates at Man City so that might help.

"I think the big draw for Shaun is going back to London. His mum is there and he's got a house there."

Report: Inter to sign Diego Forlan

Inter Milan are on the brink of signing Diego Forlan from Atletico Madrid, according to reports in Italy.

The 32-year-old Uruguay international is expected to join the Italian giants in a deal worth five million euros.

Forlan is set travel to Milan on Monday and sign a two-year contract with the Serie A outfit.

Inter are looking to bolster their attacking line following the sale of Cameroon forward Samuel Eto'o to Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala and Pandev to Napoli.

Forlan joined Atletico in 2007 from Villarreal and is under contract with the Spanish outfit until 2013.

Napoli seal Pandev loan deal

Serie A team Napoli have completed the signing of Inter forward Goran Pandev on a season-long deal.
The Macedonia international has long been linked with a move away from Inter, especially since the January arrival of Giampaolo Pazzini from Sampdoria, who has since become Inter's first-choice striker.
While the recent exit of Samuel Eto'o to Anzhi Makachkala had many suggesting Pandev could yet remain at the Giuseppe Meazza, that proved not to be the case on Friday, when Napoli announced a deal had been done.
And speaking upon the completion of his transfer, Pandev revealed he was excited at the prospect of playing for another club who would be challenging in the UEFA Champions League this season.
"I am very happy to be able to play in the Champions League with a club like Napoli as they are a very important club," Pandev told Sky Sport Italia.
His departure is unlikely to be deeply felt at Inter, with the club being recently linked with moves for Atletico Madrid's Diego Forlan, Manchester City's Carlos Tevez and Lazio's Mauro Zarate.
In addition, the club have already signed two young forwards this summer in the form of Ricardo Alvarez and Luc Castaignos.
Despite a fresh start, Pandev will have his work cut out for him if he is to establish himself as a regular starter for Napoli, especially with the duo of Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi ahead of him in the pecking order.

Almiron joins Catania from Juventus

Catania have signed Argentina midfielder Sergio Almiron from Juventus for an undisclosed fee, the Sicilian club confirmed on Saturday.

Almiron made 25 league appearances while on loan at Bari last campaign.

The 30-year-old has signed a three-year contract with Catania.

The South American  becomes Catania's 10th signing this summer.

Catania, who appointed former Roma boss Vincenzo Montella as their new manager last month, finished 13th in Serie A last term.
