Tottenham striker Keane completes LA Galaxy move

Robbie Keane has completed his transfer to the United States side Los Angeles Galaxy, Tottenham announced on Monday evening.

Keane had been in talk with the MLS club over a move after it became clear that he was surplus to necessities at White Hart Lane.

The Republic of Ireland captain confessed earlier this week that he thought his time at Tottenham was coming to an end, and the move to join former United skipper David
Beckham's team in a £3.5million transfer was finally completed on Monday evening.

"Tottenham can announce that it has reached agreement with Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy for the permanent transfer of Robbie Keane," a statement on the Spurs website read on Monday evening.

The 31-year-old made 254 appearances for Tottenham during his first spell between 2002 and 2008, during which time he scored 107 goals and quickly became a fans' favourite.

He then moved to Liverpool for £20million but returned to north London within six months after failing to impress at Anfield.

Keane played regularly under Harry Redknapp during his first season back but the arrival of play-maker Rafael Van der Vaart last summer reduced his first-team opportunities and he was loan out to West Ham, where he failed to impress.

Man United hit by defensive crisis

Champions Manchester United are fighting with a defensive injury headache just 90 minutes into the new Barclays Premier League season.

The Red Devils declared just before kick-off of Sunday's 2-1 win at West Brom that Brazilian full-back Rafael da Silva had dislocated his shoulder and faced 10 weeks on the sidelines.

And their problems widened during the game at The Hawthorns as both captain Nemanja Vidic and his deputy Rio Ferdinand limped off.

Ferdinand faces six weeks out with a hamstring injury, while United are waiting to learn the extent of central-defensive partner Vidic's injury.

Chris Smalling started at right-back in Rafael's absence against West Brom, while Jonny Evans and debutant Phil Jones came off the bench to fill the two centre-back berths when Vidic and Ferdinand had to be replaced.

Eto'o could move to England

Inter Milan star Samuel Eto'o has revealed talks over a move to Anzhi Makhachkala are ongoing, but claims he could yet move to the English Premier League.

Ambitious Russian side Anzhi are hoping to complete a astounding swoop for Eto'o and are reportedly ready to offer Inter €30million (£26.3m) for the Cameroonian.

Reports also suggest that the 30-year-old will be handed a contract worth up to €20million a season in order to make the move to the Russian republic of Dagestan.

Speaking at a press conference in Douala, Eto'o was mysterious regarding his future at Inter, but confirmed there have been discussions with Anzhi.

However, having recently been linked with a move to big spenders Manchester City as part of a swap deal involving Carlos Tevez, the former Barcelona forward refused to rule out a switch to England.

"The negotiations [with Anzhi] are ongoing, you must be patient," Eto'o told reporters.

"There's nothing to say I will leave and nothing to say I will stay, there could still be a surprise from England.

"Wait until the end of the transfer window, which is coming up soon.

"The truth is I'm still under contract with Inter Milan. When I leave here I'll go and continue the negotiations."

Robben opens door for Russian move

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has revealed he could see himself playing for one of Russia's top clubs before he retires from professional football.
Russian football is one of the hot topics of the summer transfer window thanks to newly-rich Anzhi Makhachkala.
The Dagestan side made the headlines when they persuaded Brazil legend Roberto Carlos to join their club and stimulated the market late last month with an daring bid for Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto'o.
"Of course I have heard of Anzhi Makhachkala, they have a lot of money," Robben told Express.
"But I dont want to talk about my future. I'm 27 and I am happy at Bayern. But in life anything can happen and maybe one day I will play in Russia."
Robben is in his third season in Munich after signing from Spanish side Real Madrid for €25million.
Meanwhile, Cameroon international Eto'o is reportedly on the brink of sealing a €35million move to Anzhi. It has been suggested that Eto'o will be handed a contract worth up to €20million a season in order to make the move happen.
