ALEX MCLEISH IS THE NEW VILLA BOSS

Aston Villa have appointed former Birmingham City Manager Alex McLeish as their new manager on a three-year contract with immediate effect. Villa fans were protesting against the appointment of Former Birmingham boss outside the Villa Park.

The 52 year old Scot is an Experienced Manager and earned the Praise of Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson. McLeish said"“I am honoured to have this opportunity to manage a club with such a fantastic history.The heritage, the history of success and the tradition of Aston Villa are compelling and irresistible.”

McLeish began his managerial career in 1994 and has worked with Motherwell, Hibernian, Ranger and also the Scottish national side before moving to Midlands club Birmingham City.

LIVERPOOL TO SIGN GAGO FORM REAL

Liverpool are in pole position to sign Argentine midfielder Fernando Gago from Real Madrid. The Reds have already signed Jordan Henderson from Sunderland a weak ago.

The 25 year old Defensive midfielder has not been a regular starter in Mourinho’s side and has made just 7 appearance for the club last season. The midfielder’s agent quoted” Gago needs to play and Liverpool would be a perfect club for him, Fernando wants to get back on the pitch and return to the top level and at the moment that is not possible in Madrid.” “There has been interest in the past from some Italian clubs and Aston Villa, but Liverpool have shown the most interest.”

Gago moved to Real Madrid from Boca Juniors in 2006 .

WENGER LINING UP SHOCK BID FOR SPURS STRIKER

Arsenal are lining up a bid for Tottenham Striker Jermain Defoe. Wenger is keen on signing the England International from their London Rivals Tottenham.

Defoe has made just 16 appearance last season for spurs. He is down the pecking order after Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko .With Harry Rednapp looking to bring Adebayor and Drogba to White Hart lane. Defoe could well be on his way to Arsenal.

UNITED TO BID FOR FRANCE TEENAGER

Manchester united are set to bid for 18 year old Lens Defender Raphael Varane.The offer will be around 10.5 million according to the club sources.

Varane is eager to move abroad after his club was relegated to French League 2.He would be the second defender to join united this summer after Phil Jones from Blackburn Rovers. It is evident Sir Alex is looking to install young blood to his squad after the retirement of Neville , Van der Sar and Scholes.
