Swansea signs Dutch Goal-keeper

Swansea City have completed the £1.5million signing of Dutch goalkeeper Michel Vorm from Utrecht.

The 27-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the Premier League newcomers.

He could make his Premier League debut against Manchester City on Monday.

The Holland international is relishing his role in manager Brendan Rodgers' team as the new season approaches, and revealed Premier League stars past and present backed his move.

He told Swansea's official website: "I've spoken with guys like Nigel de Jong, Robin van Persie, Rafael van der Vaart and Ruud van Nistelrooy and they all same the same - the Premier League is a beautiful place.

"The Premier League is the biggest league in the world and to be part of it is a massive opportunity.

"It is a huge challenge for the club because we are new to the league, but it is a fresh challenge too."

Vorm is set to be Swansea's first-choice stopper for the new campaign, following the departure of Dorus de Vries to Wolves.

"I know Dorus was very popular here, and he did very well," said Vorm.

"Dorus got a move to Wolves, so that leaves an opportunity.

"Hopefully I will take that opportunity. I know I will fit into the style at Swansea - it's not like the other British clubs where the goalkeeper is told to hit it down the pitch.

"So if I can impress here then hopefully I can help my chances with the Dutch national team.

"But, firstly, I have to play well for Swansea and help the team in the Premier League."

Real reject Spurs bid for Lass

Spanish giants Real Madrid have rejected a bid from Tottenham for midfielder Lassana Diarra, according to reports in Spain.

The London outfit are understood to want the midfielder on loan, but the La Liga giants are only interested in a cash deal for the player.

Madrid had initially kept a £20million fee for Diarra but talkSPORT confirmed on Tuesday they are prepared to cut their asking price down to around £15million.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp signed the French midfielder for £5.5million in January 2008 when he was managing Portsmouth, but looks set to miss out on the player this time to big spending French Ligue 1 side Paris St Germain.

PSG recently signed Palermo playmaker Javier Pastore for €42million and the club would be able to afford Diarra's £120,000 a weekly wage.

Inter Milan offer loan deal for City star

Inter have begun talks with English side Manchester City over taking want-away striker Carlos Tevez on a season-long loan.

According to reports, the Nerazzurri are in pole position to bring the Argentine to Italy after his move to his former club Corinthians fell through earlier this summer.

Their offer to take Manchester City captain on loan is on the basis of a permanent move after next season, but this has been met with disapproval from the Citizens, who are determined to do a cash deal for Tevez.

However, should play-maker Wesley Sneijder be available to the Manchester big spenders, the picture could change, with boss Roberto Mancini eager to steal a march on local counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson, who is also desperate to bring in the Dutchman to Manchester United.

Inter are also looking at selling Samuel Eto'o, who is coveted by Russian big spenders Anzhi Makhachkala, and could see Tevez as the perfect replacement for the Cameroon international.

Bastos set to turn down Juve offfer

Lyon wing-man Michel Bastos wants to stay with the French club despite interest from Italian big spenders Juventus.

The 28 year-old has been linked with a move away from the Stade Gerland but took to his Twitter account last night to declare he plans to stay with Lyon.

He also stated that the appointment of former defender Remi Garde as boss Claude Puel's replacement in June had played a part in his decision.

He posted: "Friends, let me tell you that I will remain at OL. This is where I want to win titles...

"For those who want an explanation, it is simple: new atmosphere. I never wanted to leave at any price. I feel very comfortable here."

The Brazil international joined Lyon two years ago from Lille for €18million.

Ibrahimovic wants to end his career at Milan

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has expressed his wish to stay with Italian Champions AC Milan for the remainder of his career.

The Sweden hitman spent last season on loan with the Rossoneri from Barcelona before a £24million move was formalised this summer.

And he told: "I realised that what really matters in life is happiness.

"I used to play for Barcelona, the world's best team, but was not happy. When you've had an experience as bad as that you understand what is really important.

"I'll only leave when the club does not want me any more."

Milan won last season's Serie A title and Ibrahimovic's hopes of further success this term were raised by a 2-1 Super Cup victory over city rivals Inter Milan.

Ibrahimovic cancelled out Wesley Sneijder's opener before Ghanaian Kevin-Prince Boateng won the game for Milan, said: "The victory in the Super Cup against Inter Milan was crucial to start this season well because it was not an easy game.

"Because of this success we will have more peace around the team."
