Samuel Eto'o set for Anzhi move

The agent of Samuel Eto'o has stated the Inter Milan striker is on the brink of a astounding move to Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala.

There has been rumors linking the Cameroon international with a move to the Russian side, who have been associated with a number of big-name signings this summer.

Now the 30-year-old's agent Claudio Vigorelli has confirmed a deal is near completion.

"We have almost reached an agreement with Anzhi. Now we hope that the clubs agree," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Vigorelli's revelation came in wake of Inter president Massimo Moratti's comments over star striker's move to Russia.

"The offer is not indecent but it is not up to me to evaluate it," said Moratti. "In fact it is intelligent, interesting and fair. Now it is up to us and Eto'o to evaluate it."

Eto'o has enjoyed a memorable career, having played for Spainsh giants Real Madrid and Barcelona before moving to Inter Milan in 2009.

He has played over 100 games for the Italian side, scoring 53 goals.

Atletico Madrid agree Arda Turan deal

Atletico Madrid have agreed a deal to sign forward Arda Turan from Turkish Giants Galatasaray, the two clubs have announced.

The 24-year-old has agreed a four-year contract with the Spanish Outfit and will cost an initial 12 million euros rising to 13million.

A statement on the Atletico website confirmed: "Atletico Madrid and Galatasaray have closed an agreement for the transfer of playmaker Arda Turan.

"Arda Turan will undergo his medical on Friday morning and will be presented on Tuesday, August 16 as a new Atletico Madrid player."

Spurs eye £35m Hulk move

Tottenham are lining up a daring £35million bid for highly-rated Porto striker Hulk.

The Brazilian international has been linked with a move out of the Europa League champions after a fantastic season for the Portogueuse side.

Villas-Boas’s Chelsea and big spenders Manchester City are among the clubs that have indicated their interest in the 25-year-old.

But according to The Daily Mail, Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has made Hulk as his major target to boost his strike force ahead of the new season.

Meanwhile, the muscular forward has a stunning £88million release clause in his contract but it is believed a £35million offer would move the hands of Porto into letting him go.

West Brom signs Reading Striker

West Brom have confirmed the signing of Ireland striker Shane Long for an undisclosed fee from Championship side Reading.

Long has penned an initial three-year contract with the option for a further twelve months.

He becomes Baggies manager Roy Hodgson's sixth signing of the summer with the transfer fee understood to be an initial £4.5million, rising to a possible £6.5 million with add-ons.

Long is currently on international duty with the Republic of Ireland, preparing for Wednesday's match with Croatia in Dublin.

But he will be in contention to make his West Brom debut in Sunday's Barclays Premier League clash with Champions Manchester United at the Hawthorns.

Albion announced the deal after the results of Long passed his medical. He becomes their sixth summer signing but the first for whom they have paid a transfer fee.

Billy Jones, Gareth McAuley, Zoltan Gera and Marton Fulop were free transfers while stopper Ben Foster signed on a season-long loan from relegated Birmingham.

Stoke signs Upson for free

Stoke city have signed former West Ham centre-back Matthew Upson on a free transfer. He has signed a two year contract with the Potters

The 32-year-old was released by the relegated Hammers after his contract expired at the end of last season.

He follows defender Jonathan Woodgate to the club after the ex-Tottenham centre-back agreed a deal last month having been released by the Londoners.

"This is another fantastic deal for this football club when you consider the quality and experience of the lad," manager Tony Pulis told stokecityfc.com.

Pulis continued: "We now have strength in depth in our defence with both Matthew and Jonathan on board and we've managed to achieve that without significant outlay on transfer fees, which is quite remarkable in today's market of vastly-inflated prices.

"Their experience of performing at the highest level will be a valuable asset to us because we have some good young defenders and a young goalkeeper.

"Matthew was anxious to stay in the Premier League following his departure from West Ham and he sees this as the perfect opportunity for him to further his ambitions at both club and international levels in the future."

The England international will not only face competition from Woodgate for a place in the back four but also the established central defensive pairing of captain Ryan Shawcross and Robert Huth.

However, he is looking forward to the challenge.

"There is a lot of competition for places here and that is part of the attraction," he said.

"I will relish the fight for a spot because it draws the best out of players.

"The manager has talked to me about the culture here, the discipline and the organisation, and that is an environment I am looking forward to working in."

Blackburn Rovers complete Petrovic signing

Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of midfielder Radosav Petrovic from Partizan Belgrade for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the Riversiders, having received a work permit.

The 6ft 4in defensive midfielder made his debut for Serbia in August 2009 and has made nineteen appearances for his country.

Petrovic started his professional football career at hometown club FK Jedinstvo Ub. A move to Radnicki Obrenovac followed, before he moved to Partizan in the summer of 2008.

He was named in the Serbian league team of the year for the last two seasons and is currently with his international team-mates ahead of Serbia's international match against Russia in Moscow tomorrow.

Blackburn face a race against time to make sure Petrovic is eligible for Saturday's Premier League opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers at home.

He is the Kean’s second summer signing, following Dundee United striker David Goodwillie to Ewood Park.

Obertan joins Newcastle United

Newcastle United have signed winger Gabriel Obertan from Manchester United on a five-year contract.

Obertan first team chances with United were limited during his two years with them. He is relishing the prospect of regular football with the Magpies.

"I have come here with a lot of ambition," he told Sky Sports News. "I just want to play football."

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew was delighted to have landed a long-term transfer target.

He said: "It's good news for us. He is a player we have been after for some time.

"With Wayne Routledge moving on there was an opportunity to bring him in.

"With his pace, power and versatility he is going to be an important player for us."

The 22-year-old French U-21 international moved to Old Trafford from League 1 side Bordeaux in the summer of 2009.

It has been an anxious pre-season for Newcastle with fans unhappy at the lack of movement in the transfer market in the wake of the £35million sale of striker Andy Carroll to Liverpool.

Now Pardew has been able to spend some of the Carroll money and is hopeful of adding another striker to his ranks before the transfer window closes.

"We certainly need to bring in a striker," he said. "We are aware of that and we are working hard on that."
