English premier League Week 1 Review

Manchester City 4-0 Swansea City

Sergio Aguero made a dramatic debut with a brace as Manchester City crushed promoted Swansea City to make a winning start to their Barclays Premier League campaign.

West Brom 1-2 Manchester United

Goal-keeper David de Gea's mistake failed to unsettle Manchester United as they started their Premier League title defence with a 2-1 win at the Hawthorns.

Stoke City 0-0 Chelsea

New Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas' introduction to the Barclays Premier League proved to be annoying as his side were held 0-0 at Stoke.

Liverpool 1-1 Sunderland

Luis Suarez gave Liverpool the perfect start to their season but they wasted the opportunity to press home their advantage as they were pegged back by organised Sunderland.

Newcastle 0-0 Arsenal

Gervinho's Arsenal debut ended in humiliation as he was sent off for slapping Joey Barton in a hard-fought goalless draw at Newcastle.

QPR 0-4 Bolton Wanderers

QPR's first top-flight game at Loftus Road since 1996 ended with a substandard defeat by Bolton - and what appeared to be a severe injury for Kieron Dyer.

Blackburn 1-2 Wolves

Wolves got off to a flying Barclays Premier League just three months after defeat to the same side almost cost Mick McCarthy's men their top-flight football.

Fulham 0-0 Aston Villa

Aston Villa and Fulham fans were given an opening-day reality check as Craven Cottage's Barclays Premier League season kicked off with a dour goalless draw.
