Walcott could miss start start of the season

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed forward Theo Walcott has left the club's training camp in Germany to undergo a scan on a recurring ankle problem.

England International sat out training on Monday before the decision was made to send him home and try to fix the problem before Arsenal start their Barclays Premier League season against Newcastle next month.

"Theo went home early and was due to have an MRI," Wenger said.

"It is an ankle injury that comes and goes. We need some more investigation because sometimes he's completely free of it and sometimes it affects him. But we had to send him back because he couldn't practice anymore."

Chelsea and PSG chasing Argentina ace

Javier Pastore will decide whether to join Chelsea or PSG with both clubs set to agree deals with Palermo, according to reports in Italy.

The club's president Maurizio Zamparini has confirmed negotiations are at an advanced stage and he believes a deal is about to happen.

The Premier League and Ligue 1 side are both understood to be firm to land the 22-year-old Argentina playmaker.

The club's vice president Guglielmo Micciche has confirmed that Chelsea and PSG are in the running, although he does not know where the star will join.

A fee in the region of £35.1million is expected to satisfy Palermo's demands and Micciche says the club are seeking an "important figure" to part with his services.

"Chelsea or PSG? Both London and Paris are two beautiful cities, and both represent a great opportunity for Pastore," he told Calcio Mercato.

"At the moment there are negotiations in progress and it is a situation which is involving the president Zamparini, along with the boy's attorneys.

"We're talking about a major player and therefore important figures. We're looking for the best solution for both parties.

"I'm sure, however, that Pastore will join the team that shows the most desire to secure his signature."

Sergio Aguero undergoing Man City medical

Sergio Aguero is undergoing a medical ahead of his anticipated move to Manchester City from Atletico Madrid.

The Argentina international arrived at Manchester Airport on Wednesday morning and has headed straight for a north west hospital to undergo medical tests.

He's also due to hold talks with City over personal terms with a fee, understood to be in the region of £38million, believed to have been agreed.

Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero is sure his move to Manchester City will be completed soon after he arrived in England to meet club officials.

"Just arrived in Manchester to finalise the details of signing with City," Aguero wrote on Twitter.

"Everything is going very well! I'll tell you more in a while."

City boss Roberto Mancini revealed his interest in Aguero earlier this month and admitted on Monday that he was keen to see a deal concluded this week.

And it appears the 23-year-old's proposed big-money move to the ambitious Premier League club is now a step closer to being completed.

Aguero revealed earlier in the summer that he was planning to quit Atletico, who he joined in 2006 from Independiente in his homeland.

Real Madrid was thought to be his most likely destination, before City confirmed their interest and moved swiftly to the head of the queue.

Aguero was on international duty for Argentina in the Copa America, but was unable to prevent the hosts from suffering a disappointing early exit.

It has been suggested that the arrival of the highly-rated striker could pave the way for Carlos Tevez to leave, but Mancini has always insisted he wants his skipper to remain despite his well-publicised desire to depart.

Atletico coach Gregorio Manzano admitted on Tuesday night that Aguero's departure looked imminent.

"It seems as though in the coming hours we will have a final outcome to the issue that has has occupied us for so long," he told Spanish radio station Cope.

"It is already in it's final stretch, I've asked the players to focus on Thursday's game [an Europa League tie against Stromsgodset].

"Unfortunately we won't be able to call on Kun [Aguero]."
