Manchester United eyeing shock bid for Chelsea Ace

English Champions Manchester United could make a shock bid to sign Chelsea play-maker Frank Lampard, according to reports in the UK.

The Red devils are losing their grip on their title defence after losing two back-to-back league matches against bottom floaters Blackburn and ever improving Newcastle United.
One of the main problem areas lie in midfield, where United have struggled for creativity - not helped by the long injuries list.

According to The Daily Mail and The Daily Mirror newspapers, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to stun the whole of English football with a shock move for the Chelsea midfielder.

The 70 year-old is believed to be a long-time admirer of the England international and is ready to seize upon on the chance to sign the 33-year-old this January.

Lampard’s future with the Blues remains a doubt after seemingly falling down the pecking order in Andre Villas-Boas side. He could well be tempted by a move to Old Trafford as he looks to revive his career.

The former West Ham player could be the man to solve United’s problem as the Red Devils have been lacking a midfield maestro since the retirement of legendary Paul Scholes.
