Roma goalkeeper Doni has changed his mind and agreed on a move to join Liverpool, despite previous reports.
Italian newspaper reported that the Brazilian shot-stopper has agreed terms with the Premier League club and the move should happen within the next few days, should both sides agree on a transfer fee.
Roma is bargaining for at least £1.5m for the 31-year-old.
This sudden turnaround was unexpected, as Doni turned down Liverpool's first salary package after considering it too low.
Doni's arrival will raise speculation on the future of Reina, who has been linked to a move away from Anfield.
However, with Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish planning to build a squad to Arule the Barclays Premier League, the wily Scot could be looking at Doni as a possible low-cost replacement for the Spaniard, should he choose to leave.
