PSG CHASING EPL STIRKERS

Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain will look to attract Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka and Man United’s Dimitar Berbatov as new boss Leonardo looks to spend big this summer. The Parc des Princes side have the financial backing of The Qatar Foundation and the new investors are looking to secure a Champions League spot this coming season and are willing to fund important moves in the transfer market to help secure that goal.

Anelka began his professional career at PSG and has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge following the arrival of new boss Andre Villas-Boas. The 32 year old French international is vastly experienced and may well be open to the idea of a return to France as his first team opportunities at Stamford Bridge continue to look limited..

Dimitar Berbatov similarly found himself bench bound for portions of last term, again despite being the club’s leading scorer and indeed the joint top Premier League scorer overall, and the Bulgarian has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer.

Sir Alex Ferguson opted for a younger strike combination of Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney for much of the second half of last season and the former Tottenham man now has just one year on his current deal and could be offloaded to avoid losing the striker for nothing next summer.

PSG boss Leonardo has to balance long term goals with short term success and is therefore interested in the proven Premier League strike pairing and is eager to bring both players to support fellow new signing Kevin Gameiro who was brought in from Lorient last month.
